Gagana Badrinath

" I am Gagana Badrinath, a Bharatanatyam artiste, teacher, and choreographer, originally from Basavanagudi Bengaluru, India, and now based in Texas, USA. My journey with Bharatanatyam began at the age of seven under the guidance of my Guru, Dr. M. R. Krishna Murthy, who is the disciple of legendary Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale. Over the years, I have explored the beauty of this art form and continue to learn deeply which as an artist has not only elevated approach to my life but has created my style of expression to connect to the supreme.

In addition to dance, fortunate to have trained in Carnatic vocal music, learning along with performing Karnataka’s folk art - Yakshagana, experiences that deepened my love for the rich art forms of Bharatha! I am the Founder and Artistic Director of Kalakshithija Art Foundation, a gurukula where students are trained in dance, nattuvangam, theoretical aspects and performance, striving to nurture not just technique but also creativity and confidence.

Beyond my artistic pursuits, I hold a degree in Instrumentation Technology with distinction, and I value the balance between discipline and imagination that both art and academics have instilled in me. As a performer, teacher, and lifelong learner, I am committed to carrying forward the cultural heritage of Bharatanatyam while inspiring the next generation of artists. "
