About the event
VESHA is an intimate one-hour theatre production born from a five-year research journey across Karnataka, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Through conversations with more than 50 Yakshagana artists and visits to over 20 traditional melas, the play offers a deeply personal exploration of the lives, memories, and artistic spirit of the remarkable Stree Patradhaaris (female-role performers) of Yakshagana. Blending research, storytelling, and lived experience, VESHA invites audiences into the hidden world behind the makeup, costume, and performance—celebrating a timeless art form and the people who keep it alive.
